HARRISBURG, Pa. – Today Garden Spot Communities, New Holland, Pennsylvania, announced a joint venture with Harristown Enterprises and Select Capital Commercial Properties (SCCP) to convert the historic early 1900s eight-story, 50,000 square feet former office tower at 112 Market Street into 39 independent living apartments. The community will be called The Exchange.
The project will include a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments designed for Active Adults ages 55+. Construction began in early June and will take about one year to complete. Garden Spot Communities will master lease the entire building and will oversee leasing the apartments to future tenants.
Many of the apartments will have spectacular views of the Susquehanna River and the complex will offer amenities for residents including storage units, a pet washing area, community gathering spaces and meeting rooms.
The total project cost, including acquisition, is about $10 million. AP Williams is serving as general contractor and By Design as architect. Mid-Penn Bank will provide financing for the project.
“This is a spectacular location near the Riverfront for this unique project and we look forward to showcasing this wonderful new apartment complex with our partners at Garden Spot to highlight the many assets of living in downtown Harrisburg,” said Brad Jones, President and CEO of Harristown.Garden
Spot Communities CEO Steve Lindsey says, “We are excited to expand our mission to create vibrant community for purposeful living into Harrisburg and are honored to partner with Harristown Enterprises and Select Capital Commercial Properties to make this vision a reality.”
