Being five can be tough. I have to clean up my toys, make my bed, and brush my own teeth! At this rate, I’ll soon need to find a job!
If I had to get a job, I’d want to work at Garden Spot Village like my mommy, Sharon Sparkes. She is employed as a digital storyteller in the marketing department. The last time we went there together, I did so many fun things!
Our first stop was the adjacent New Holland Community Park, where I got to run around and play on the equipment. We then went to explore various unique micro-communities, including the Train Room and the Art Guild. They welcome team members to interact and participate in their activities through open house events and memberships. After that, I went swimming in the pool. Since it was Employee Family Day, we got to eat pizza together while watching a movie in the theater. And that was all just in a few hours!
I can’t believe my mom gets to have this kind of fun every day… while also getting paid! She deserves it though, especially after her last job. At her prior job, she had to work too many hours, meaning she wasn’t able to have any kind of balance with her home life. When she started her position at Garden Spot Village, it was nice to not feel like she had to live at work. Now, she has more scheduling flexibility, and can even work from home to be with me more!
When I visited, I got to interact with other people of all ages. There were kids whose family members worked there, like me. Additionally, there were employees and residents of all ages.
Despite this range, everyone was able to come together and celebrate the positive work being done in the community. In the midst of the fun, I learned the meaning of a new phrase — “intergenerational connectivity.”
I love many things, including my mom, the color pink, and my Miraculous Ladybug doll. I also especially love Garden Spot Village. They work to create spaces where I am welcomed, which gives me the opportunity to strengthen familial bonds while making new friendships along the way.
I can’t wait for my next visit!
